Shiny New Dog Tags

With the arrival of a new puppy, it seemed only proper to treat each dog to a lovely new identity tag, but with so many lovely designs on the market which should we choose...
After a little searching for British made, quality tags we realised an old M&H stockist, Merry Dogs,  actually made beautiful dog togs in a choice of sterling silver or brass, and a whole variety of original hand stamped designs.
We opted for 3 English sterling silver 1" tags, each personalised with our dogs name and symbol on the front and, contact number and 'I am chipped' on the reverse.
Each letter has been hand-stamped in their Yorkshire studio to give a deep and lasting impression. The wording is then darkened to create a lovely contrast with the silver.
These chunky, quality tags are hand-made items and do not resemble machine-made tags. Merry Dogs say they are hand-stamped using a hammer, and therefore slight maker's marks may be visible, and lettering may not be 100% straight-as-a-die, but is part of the charm of hand-made items using the crafting traditions of earlier times.
Each tag was supplied with a small silver-cleaning cloth, and gift wrapped in tissue and arrived in a taffeta gift bag.

We can't say just how pleased we were to receive our order which even exceeded expectations, and we can't recommend them highly enough!

Mutts & Hounds has expanded into a second working studio on their existing site.
The new workshop has been up and running for it's first week and is now the new home of the in house sewing team.
Most interestingly, if you own a M&H dog toy, dog harness, dog coat or neckerchief then it will have been hand cut and constructed in this very studio by our team in Wiltshire!

The Potting Shed Pub and The Rectory Hotel

At the end of May we had a photo shoot to photograph our new range. We were delighted to be able to use 2 very picturesque locations.

The Potting Shed Pub can be found in Crudwell, Wiltshire (SN16 9EW) in the Cotswold triangle of Tetbury, Cirencester and Malmsbury. The Good Pub Guide awarded it National Pub of the year 2012 and National Dining Pub of the year 2011.

We had previously visited The Potting Shed Pub and immediately fell in love with the decor and their obvious love for our favorite four legged friends! We always find it useful to know where the dog friendly pubs are and this one is no exception, with lots of quirky dog paraphernalia to be spotted around the pub it is a must visit for dog owners.

If you are local (or not!) we highly recommend you visit them for lunch or dinner, we had lunch after we completed our morning session and the fingers fish sandwiches come highly recommended by us! They were also fantastic at rustling up something for our gluten free member of the team - which is very hard to come by!

In case you want privacy whilst you dine The Potting Shed Pub has a small private dining room 'The Hide'. Seating up to 14 guests this is perfect for special family occasions or celebrating with a small group of friends.

The pub has 2 acres of gardens in which it grows fresh herbs and veg to use in their menus and for their sister business The Rectory Hotel just a stones throw across the road. The menu changes every month to utilize the best seasonal produce. They also use their garden for summer BBQs and have a selection of mouth tingling summer cocktails for the afternoons that warrant nothing but a trip to a pub garden.

After our yummy lunch we ventured over to The Rectory Hotel for our afternoon location.
The Rectory Hotel is located a stones throw across the road from The Potting Shed.

We managed to get a selection of photographs outside in the picturesque 3 acre ground before the English summertime weather decided to crash the party. We moved inside and enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and plate of shortbread waiting out the rain. Unfortunately the English weather won, however this enabled us to utilize the beautifully decorated rooms inside.

With 12 bedrooms The Rectory Hotel is the perfect country escape for the whole family - yes including dogs! There were a handful of doggy guests while we were shooting and they looked to be enjoying themselves immensely. The Rectory is a short car journey to many beautiful Cotswold towns - Tetbury being one of our personal favorites, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

The Rectory cater for weddings and civil ceremonies - we think it would make the perfect back drop for the perfect day. The Rectory can also be booked as a conference venue.

Staff at both of our country locations were incredibly polite and were a true credit to the owners. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff and owners at The Potting Shed and The Rectory for being very accommodating and looking
after us all day.
